Hello all! My name is Nick and my dad just bought a 73 Jensen Healey. My forum experience is stemmed from srtforums.com so I may require some acclimation to your site, as I do not expect much NSFW or thread bombing here. Reading some preliminary threads here you guys seem pretty nice, which I assume is a result of the demographic that populates this forum. (We youngsters can get rambunctious sometimes) I am 25 and an AC2(AW/SW) in the US Navy. My dad is a Naval veteran as well. He just got a Jensen in Lodi, CA, and trailered it to Love Oak. I was born in Yuba City and raised in many cities from Sacramento to Chico. I look forward to making friends here, and will be the primary account holder, as my dad isn't much for the net.

My primary concern is electrical, as I hear the English wiring is plagued with hazards that only deteriorate over time. Our car has been sitting over 2 years and starts, sometimes.

Feel free to ask any questions, Impala, Jensen, or SRT related. I love to talk cars and spend many hours on my SRT forum a day, and when not online, I am datalogging my tunes with my lap top. I recently converted my SRT to E85 and when the time comes, may explore doing it with the Jensen, in effort to increase the timing for a few more ponies. But that research will come in due time, as I figure the Jensen's fuel system is not Ethanol compatible. At present, reliability and restoration is our primary concern.

To do List:
Compression check
Carb cleaning
Seafoam
Coolant flush
chassis inspection
tire inspection
wiring inspection
trans fluid check
gas tank pull and inspect
fuel line inspection
motor degrease
spark plug replace and gap
Ignition wire replace
Battery test/replace
Brakes inspection

Anything else you can think of?

Ohh, very good advice. My dad has the manual, so I will look into it, we have limited resources, but if it can be done without pulling the motor, I don't see that being terribly difficult with the DOHC design and front access. Is there a How-to and restoration path thread or sticky here? I can't seem to find one? I have general questions and don't want to get flamed for asking them in the wrong sub forum. I am open to any and all advice, as this is our first british restoration. We have restored a 68 Firebird (she will be missed) and currently working on my 64 Impala DD. My first question is what spark plugs run best in these cars? I am a big fan or Copper NGK 4306's in my Dodge.

Well, Jensen's fall under the "other british cars" category here, so that's a good place to start posting.

You can swap the belt w/out removing the engine. It's in the manual. But if you have queastions then just ask.

And don't worry about being "flamed" here. This place is low key and very helpful.

Hello there! I too am on the SRT forum but I hardly go on it. Way too slow with all the advertising. Drives me crazy. I have a 2004 Electric Blue with "some" mods. Ron

Oh man Ron you gotta get on there! Get a login and some of the ads go away. The Canada scene there really has some smart guys! Feel free to PM me on the SRT forums if you have any questions. Here are my SRT mods, I am running a custom tune: 1025cc injectors, AEM Wideband, DSP, ACT 6 puck sprung clutch and fly, Bwoody Check valve, Home Depot CC, Coolingmist 150psi WAI kit & M5 nozzle, ported throttle body, MM inserts, front and rear strut tower braces, Granatelli wires and aluminum heat sheild, NGK 4306's @ .032, Walbro 255lph pump, 3 Bar MAP & TIP, 3 " Catless DP w/ McCord plate, K&N Drop in, STS, 225/45 ZR17's, E85, Stock turbo, and a bunch of zip ties.

You have a GTS? I am sooooooooo jealous!

Welcome Nick! It's great to have another J-H on board. Jody's right on with his assessments and there are many more here with J-H and lotus 907 experience when we can get them to confess to it. I haven't seen reference to the JHPS site in this thread, but would recommend it to anyone. Their club store is a good source, too. Good Luck and have fun.

Hello Nick, and welcome to the Forum! No flaming here, it's well moderated, and populated with a ton of helpful people. Welcome! :savewave:

Welcome aboard there Nick..
Nice car and "to do list"
I wish I was still working with my dad on cars...
you will have great times to share.......
Proud to see your in the Navy

Thank you everyone for the welcomes and the information. My dad was going into this almost blindly. He is kinda old school and has never had any forum association. I told him it's an invaluable tool and a "must have." After all with out forums I would never have gotten to my power level with my SRT.

I am a member of the forum... Viper 666 is my username. My car is the one from the show: "Tuner Transformations". I have some posts but I just went to the forum and it is still too slow! I am a member of several other car forums and none drive me as crazy as that one! Ron.

Welcome to the forum! Don't worry about getting flamed, it's not likely on here. It's just not that kind of a community....

Ask away, the only dumb questions are the ones you don't ask!
