I just finished the running gear on 9864. I am starting on the tub and sheetmetal. First issue is the rear fender on the drivers side. At one time it was crushed center top. I have it beat out to mostly the correct shape but getting the right shape for the 1949 year is becoming rather difficult. Any body out there that has had to deal with getting sheet metal back to its original configuration?
Next the tub. I have Mike Sherrels books and many print outs of dimensions of the tub. I have different measurements for the same measure ( even Mikes has conflicting measurements). How critical? Also, I find I have to massage the wood to make things fit but do not know exactly if there is any gaps between the sheet metal and the wood framing. This is a first time for me and help , suggestions , would be appreciated .
