My wife and I purchased out Tr6 new in July of 1976. It saw a lot of use for 9 years, but when we moved back to Texas, the steering was unusable. I rack and pinion had been broken by the transit company, and so began a 34 year hiatus from driving it. I have worked on it over the 34 year period... Fixed the steering (turns out a turn on was frozen up), repaired body rust from winters in northern states, did a Koni shock conversion on the rear end, got seats reupholstered, installed new dashboard (mahogany,built in my wood shop), installed all new vinyl for crash pads and dashboard top, etc.
i bought stuff along the way... all new vinyl panels for doors and other areas... all new carpets, 3 carb setup from GoodParts, etc. Now my Tr6 is at British Auto Specialists, and they are attending to issues from our crappy ethanol gasoline, but it runs now, and my wife and I are excited to move forward. And I am looking for member input on items like “which new convertible top is best,” or if I install an oil cooler (it is HOT in Texas) should I consider the kits with a thermostat or ignore that option.
I look forward to your recommendations... and have already been browsing entries about the heater fan motor, as it appears it is frozen and blows the associated fuse l when anyone try’s to turn it on. And as I have learns, some of the gauges I thought may have failed are on that circuit.
