Hi all! Long ago, when hitchhiking was an acceptable mode of transportation, I got a ride in a Sunbeam Tiger; and around the same time had a friend, who had a older brother whose friend rode a Norton motorcycle. I was hooked….
Driving age, growing up in the Motor City, and a series of muscle cars; two GTOs, a Road Runner, and a GTX….worked on the service side management in domestic dealerships and started getting demos, a new car 6 times a year.
I went through many Triumph, Norton, and BSA motorcycles, restoring and selling to fund the next project, be it home or hobby related, but had a Commando that was always the keeper. As the family responsibility grew the decision was made to get a MGB; then when I was ready to retire my wife suggested that I get my dream Jaguar project. Couldn’t afford an E Type…..
Bought and restored a XJ-S, which is my daily driver/second car ( lease a new Jeep for my wife), and still have the B, now with a Rover V8/LT77 drivetrain. The XJ-S is my favorite of all the cars I have driven…the MGB is the summer fun car ( although I drive it year round weather permitting).
Do all my own work, body, paint, interior, and mechanical. Electronics is another hobby, so I have no issues with Lucas electrics or fuel injection.
