Hi, new member to the BCF, not new to Sprites and Midgets. I currently own two 1959 sprites. One is a race car that I purchased in 1973 as a race car. I raced it off and on in SCCA regional races in the early 70s and early 80s. I put it in storage for about 15 years then started vintage racing with it in 2000. I currently use it in vintage sports car racing with VDCA and VSCDA here in the east. The street sprite was purchased in 1982 in California. It was a well used driver, but not rusted. I did a complete restoration in the early 90s to as close to the correct original specs as my money and skills and time allowed. I drove it for several years with a 948 and Judson supercharger. It was judged silver in 1998 at the 40th Sprite reunion. It currently has a 1275 with a Datsun 5 speed (Rivergate) and 3.7 rear end gear.

I like driving both my sprites. They are not "hangar queens". I hope to learn more from this forum and also help other BCF spridget owners to keep their cars on the road.

Welcome aboard! We have a very active Sprights forum here so you will fit right in. We have many members from TN, including our moderator, Mickey.

I have a 1960 Old English White Sprite with a 1275 and a Datsun 5 Speed and 3.9 rear end with a red tunneau and a Red Top with VTO Wheels.

Welcome to the BCF Buzz! Great-looking pair of Bugs you have there. We probably met in 1998 at Rick Moses's Sprite Fest (or whatever it was called that year) in Pennsylvania.

Here's a pic of my Sprite (click on it for a larger view):

Please consider joining the club (see link in my signature), and plan to attend the Austin-Healey Southeastern Classic in Guntersville, Alabama, next October.

Hi, Buzz -

Not sure if we've met, but I'm just up the road from you. Have you been to our Springtime in the Smokies show in May? I've made the Rugby show a couple times; always a nice event.

Glad to have you aboard!

Thanks for the warm welcomes guys.

59diamond...our cars sound very similar. I'm actually thinking, just pondering, about putting my 948 back in, with Judson, Datsun trans, and 3.7 gear and see how that works. I had my Judson rebuilt last year by George F.

Reid, we have met...at the 1998 Sprite Fest. Great to hear from you! Nice looking sprite you have. I used to be a member of the national Austin Healey club back in the day. Thanks for the invite to join. I'll probably do that. My interests have wandered over the past couple decades, but I still have a love, or is it a disease, for the LBC's. I think I heard from Stan Mason that the Healey Marque is doing an article on the VSCDA vintage racing Sprite/Midget challenge series?

Mickey, we are close. I have been to the Townsend Brit car show a couple times, if that's the one you are talking about...a long time ago, late 90s. The wife and I just moved to Crossville this past summer, from west TN, and we are still getting settled in. I hope to meet more of the middle and east TN Brit car folks.

Great! The Plateau British Car Club and our club (Blount British Car Club) have a close association. I'm sure we'll cross paths before long.

Oh, and one of the members here on the forum, Dick LeClair, lives in Crossville; he's restoring a TR3 and pops in fairly often.

Thanks for the info Mickey. I have not hooked up with the Plateau British Car Club. Do you have contact info?

Not sure - try email: events@pbcctn.org. If that doesn't work, I'll see what else I can find for you.

Thanks Mickey. I'll give it a try.

Mickey, the email worked for the Plateau Brit car club. I got hold of the right person. Thanks.
