New Marcos to USA !!

Thats cool, and if the price doesn't get too high with import it should sell pretty good. I hope to see one in the next few years.

Great looking car, but the plan seems to include just bringing in a rolling chassis right now. Basically, you could already do that (it's the same deal as buying rolling chassis kit Cobra).
What would be neat would be a turnkey car with a nice V8 such as the Ford twin-cam or a Lexus powertrain.
And do they even make those in left hand drive?

At 2600lbs (Corvette is 3200) and 475Hp, I imagine it's fairly quick. I've seen 0-60 numbers of 3.8 sec. Engine and drivetrain are from the Corvette Z-06 with the engine tweaked by Marcos.

What about Grey Market? Can one be brought in privately?

Yes, I know of a few that are 80's, 90's models that were brought in privately. Here in CA it's virtually impossible to license but some states aren't too bad. They have been shipped over sans drivetrain and registered as kit cars I believe. Been a few on Ebay recently but they were the 60's, 70's models.

Great car!!! I hope more makes get back to the U.S.

That is an awesome looking car! I friend of mine sent me a picture of it a few months ago asking me what it was, I had no idea at that time who built it. Is this the same Marcos that builds those conversions on original Mini's? If so they've come a long way.

Edit - Oops, sorry, I was thinking of those Midas minis there, my bad. Never mind my question above.

No, you're absolutely right. The Mini Marcos was started in the 60's and fits on the old mini chassis. It's a fiberglass body. They've just come out with the Mark VI I believe.

Check here if you're interested. Marcos Heritage has parts for all the "older" (pre-2001) cars plus they build the new Mini Marcos.

Hey look at that, I thought I remembered the mini marcos correctly, thanks Don.

I posted this picture awhile back asking what this car was, and I was told it was a mini marcos.

My dad took that shot back at Watkins Glen in the late 60's or early 70's.

Sorry, not a Marcos. Marcos were always front-engined. This car looks to be rear-engined (fuel filler in hood). Looks a lot like a Puma.

BTW, I was born and raised in Geneva, NY, just 25 miles north of Watkins Glen. Saw many races there!

Yep, you're right Don, it's not a Marcos. I went back and looked at the original thread that I posted this under back last spring. The consensus was that it is a Unipower GT. I'm doing great today, I think Alzheimers is setting in early, be lucky if I can remember my own name soon /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif.

Are they still building it with the plywood-core monocoque?
