My neighbor, a retired Navy man, is going to have a knee replacement and he was telling me that it is all done by computer and a robot! The doctor is at the computer making sure all the procedures and measurements are perfect and the work is done robotically. I'm always impressed by advanced technology, especially in the medical field. Amazing! :encouragement:

Don't ask me how, but he said no screws or pins are used!

Med tech is amazing for sure. Neighbor just had a heart valve replaced last week with no incision or stitches. did it through a groin artery and she went home the next day.

This is interesting. I had a surgeon operated computerized (DaVinci) used in my prostatectomy, which required only puncture wounds, no incisions, and provided a bloodless surgical field. A brief look at info on the new knee procedure cites improvements in fit and alignment, but it looks like the surgery itself is still severing the front of thigh muscle and big openings for access to implant the joint.
