Mmmm, that's interesting Jack. I'm not sure I like the new format. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif
Mind you,I'm averse to change in a lot of things. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif
I'll get used to it in time, and just at that point Bill will get his people to change things again. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif
That's progress!!
I downloaded last week - one benefit is the tab deal - if you push ctrl and click on another link they both show as tabs on the top and you can go back & forth.
In FF, you can middle click any link to open in a new tab. In any browser, if you can hold left shift while clicking a link and it will open in a new window. I prefer windows to tabs, personally.

Perhaps I'd better clarify this. If it's to make things better---good,if it's just change for change sake, then I'm not so sure. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif
The change of server here is an example of good things coming from a change. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
okay, I'll bite...whenever I click on my little internet icon (internet explorer) it automatically goes to the page I designated...& from there to any other page I designate....how do you see just the IE?
set yer home page in internet options to "about:blank"
but um... I guess I don't understand exactly why you wouldn't want it to open to SOME page first. It's not much of a program when it isn't displaying web pages
I set my home page to Google. Then I put some quick links along the top of the navigation bar for the sites I frequent daily.
No tabs, no large icons, no tool bar "helpers". Just what I need, and leave as much space as possible for displaying the web pages I visit. Less clutter, less scrolling around to see what I'm browsing for.
The feature I like most in Firefox is the ability to open a bunch of sites at once with a single click If you have a bunch of pages bookmarked under a single toolbar button you can just click the "Open all in tabs" at the bottom of the list and FF goes off and opens all the sites. Then you can tab between them very quickly to see what the world is doing. This lets me check my 11 frequently viewed sites in about a minute start to finish.
I don't know why I hate tabs. I think it's because it takes up space that could be used to display more content. Also, you have to watch the task bar AND the tab bar.
/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/iagree.gif Good points!!! What happens if you accidentally link to a site that suddenly creates 100+ tabs or task-bar items? I like my old IE... Call me crazy, but it works great. (up until my wife decides to upgrade it, I have all auto updates turned off).
This is why most good software allows users to configure the interface to their liking. In our commercial software packages I've given up trying to please everyone. Don't like the colors? Change them. Want the buttons on the left? Move them. Don't like the wording (or language) in a message? Change it.
Making this stuff configurable is the only way to accommodate all of our diverse preferences.
