Hello all, name's Craig, I am the owner of a '71 Series III 2+2 4-speed survivor. I'm sure I'll be asking a lot of questions and since, up 'till recently, I have only been working on classic Mopars, I'll probably need a lot of your help.

Here's my girl:

Welcome to our humble forum, Craig! Glad to have you aboard! Excuse me will I pick my jaw up off the floor - wow that's a nice E you have there! Once you get used to the smiles and waves and adulation you will get from driving that, you will never go back!

Cheers,
Basil

****! What a fine automobile...& everybody tells me not to buy one of those models because they're ugly - NOT!

Thank you for all the compliments. The car was actually purchased by me when I was 15 (I'm 32 now) with some "dead relative" money (excuse the morbid reference...in our family, we have a very odd sense of humor).

I drove the car for a year or so and then it needed a carb rebuild (which I couldn't perform or afford) so into the garage it went...where it stayed for 15 years.

I finally decided to do soething about it and took it out of storage and sent it to a well-known Jag mechanic in my area who got it running and fixed some of the broken and/or dryrotted stuff, rebuilt the carbs, etc.

I've been driving it around and enjoying the admiring stares and comments (as well as the occasional Civic trying to race me). I have also been trying to learn as much as I can about the car.

Apparently, its a fairly rare bird. Its a relatively early production '71 and apparently has the 300 horse high compression engine (I never could understand why the engine would detonate with 93 octane PLUS octane booster...now I know). Its also a 4-speed and a 2+2. Of course, with the 2+2, rare doesn't necessarily mean desirable.

I'll post a VIN whenever I get a chance (as well as some more pics) and see if anyone can give me some more info on her.

Sure is a lot different than working on classic American iron...I'll tell you that much.

Craig, Your Series III E type is a beautiful example of a classic and collectoble car. The four speed option on the V12 is indeed rare and makes a superb car to drive. Also your early model front bumper treatment with the small overriders is a lot mmore desireable than the large rubber bumper treatment of the 1973-4 version. From the picture you have a real jewel.
