This is a concept car...that might be in your garage in the near future...I hope they make this...cool isn't it?

This supposed to be inspired by the Healey...a modern version... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Just found a thread about this in a past posting...still worth drooling over though... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Isn't this the one that BMW were thinking about as they assumed they owned the name, but dropped it when they found that the Healey family retained the rights?

I don't really care for it. There are a few Healey-esque details (front grille, two tone paint, etc) but not the essence of the marque, not the proportions that make the Healey a classic. This design looks like the offspring of the Pontiac roadster and a BMW. It got cluttered up with too many fussy little details on the front and side and I don't like the personality that it projects. The extra big grille teeth and the split cover headlamps give it an aggressive/mean look. That's o.k. for some vehicles but again, I don't think it captures the Healey spirit.

...although they did get the lack of ground clearance about right!

Cheers,
John

I'll stick with the original classic, thanks. Next thing you know they'll do a remake of "Gone with the Wind" or "Citizen Kane".

Has anyone seen/found a picture it it backside yet?

Different cars, no?
The Warwick's a whole lot more 'right' as a modern Healey interpretation IMHO.
The one that Henri posted is just a tad fussy for my liking.
Just my two yennies worth.

\he had not talked to anyone who holds the naming rights to the cars. (ie the Healey family)/quote]
------------------------------------

I believe that rights to the AH name went from the family long ago and were transferred with each successive sale. The rights to affix the Healey name is a different story, and the family also claims rights to "The Winged Device" or Healey logo, though they have not been very assiduous in protecting the latter.

All that said I'd give good odds against any future Healey project's getting off the ground--perhaps adding "...IN A TEAPOT" to the front plate would be appropriate.

My understanding of who owns the names is that Healey Automobile Consultants (owned by the family) have the rights to 'Healey' and someone else (either BMW or MG/Rover) own 'Austin-Healey'.
There has been talk (maybe only rumour) in the motoring press for years about the possibility of a new A-H, so I wouldn't hold your breath!!
