Greetings everyone. New South Jersey member here with a 59 TR-3A project car - s/n 31577 LO. It's a unique situation (well maybe not so unique…)...anyway I have bought a partially completed ground-up, that someone else started and ran out of money part way through. The challenge will be to take a bunch of boxes of parts that I had nothing to do with in the dis-assembly, and try to put it back together. Are all the parts there? Well that remains to be seen when the car and all the boxes arrive...
The car is a 2 owner rust free San Diego/AZ car that will be coming up to the Northeast. The previous owner spent a bunch of $$ in the restoration to date - powdercoated frame, all new drive train etc etc, with all the dirty work done. And most importantly, all panels have beeen professionally re-fitted - this was the stage where he ran into financial problems. I have bought the whole lot at a significant discount. It looks to me like the makings of a nice concurs car. But having said that, I am not against a daily driver at all - it's just the hand I've been dealt so to speak. I'm thinking of this more like a nice piece of art begging to be completed.....it's my second ground up, so I kind'a know what I'm in for (my first one was a Sunbeam Tiger. I have ordered the heritage certificate and will be putting it back to the original colors - whatever they may be. (I think it's plain old boring Signal Red with black interior but we'll see) I have been talking to Triumph Rescue but am not 100% finalized at this time on who will do the final body prep and paint. And I'll sure be leaning on the expertise on this forum for help with all the little gizmos and brackets etc I'm gonna come across, if you guys will have me.... Wish me luck! Here are a few pix....Enjoy,…Bruce
