Well, I finally joined the forum. I've lurked occassionally but my car wasn't roadworthy and I didn't want to be that poor guy who "almost" had a car. I waited until I was back on the road.
I've had my TR250 for about 15 years. I bought it, quite literally, on the spur of the moment. I was walking past a Britcar garage, saw it for sale and asked "What is it?". I made a deal for it that day.
Early last year, the brakes started doing funny things. One wheel would lock "a bit" but, as we got into summer, it ended up locking solid. I was scared to death that I had a MAJOR problem. Eventually, I figured out it was a $10.00 problem...I replaced the front brake hoses which had collapsed on themselves and were acting as one-way valves. So I'm back on the road but I've only been road worthy for about two weeks. The sad thing is: where I live, you don't drive a convertible much past September so it will be a short season.
BAD THINGS ABOUT MY CAR: Thick cracking faded paint, ugly wheels with beat up tires, weather seals that have decayed to virtual non-existence, non-functioning oil pressure gauge (long story), intermittent electricals (big surprise, eh?)and a general "well used" appearance.
GOOD THINGS ABOUT MY CAR: Highly original. It has an engine with a number which is correct for the car's commission number, original accessories like a Lucas alternator and Lucas Screenjet windshield washer, original instruments and interior, virtually no rust anywhere and only 66,000 original miles.
