Hi everyone. I have been lurking around for a couple of weeks. Great forum, full of good imformation and friendship. Thought I should register and give the door a push. A little about myself. Mechanic for 42+ years first 15 in UK, apprenticed on Rover,Jag and Triumph, then on to BMW dealer and then Leyland. Relocated to Canada in 78 and worked at Aluminun smelter as mechanic for 27+ retired last August. I have always liked the MGB from the day they were introduced, must have mentioned it, because Chery LOML says why dont you buy a B for your retirement, now who was I to argue with such a wise lady. So July saw the purchace of 1979 MGB, ex Cal car, no rust and in good shape. Managed to put 3000mls on it before the snow arrived. Since Nov have given it a thourgh going over, engine rebuild, trans reseal and fixed the o/d,new rear brakes, hub seals and bearings, diff thrusts and backlash adj, many electric componants, also fitted a new ragtop, went for the Cabriolet version fairly pleased with result. The paint is 6 years old and is a 25-30 foot paintjob if you get my meaning, but its not a show car or a tq, its for driving and enjoying which we intend to do lots of. We intend attending Brits On The Beach in Ladysmith, Vancouver Island, and look forward to meeting in person any who will be there. Guess thats all for now, have to go shovel the drive again,
Cheers Ric

You will enjoy it here, if you have a good sence of humour.
Lets see a Pic. of the beast, and post often.

Paul

Buddy that looks like a nice B. Welcome to the forum and we're looking forward to drawing from your 42+ years of experience.
JC

Nice looking wheels, enjoy.

Hey Ric, welcome to the asylum.

And don't believe a word you hear about me. Especially from KLUTZ!

That's a great-looking B. The black is a really sharp color.

Ummm... birdie, he said he lurked fer a bit before he stuck 'is 'ead up. Likely knows ya already.

Welcome in Ric. I'd guess you been thru "Guilds" then, huh?

Hope we'll see a lot of ya here.

You'll like it here Ric.
Not much snow shoveling, what little snow we had a while back melted on its own.
Love your B! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Thanks for all the nice words on the MG, but as I say it's a 20-30 foot paintjob.
Jaybird, hows Emma running now?
Hi Doc, yes went through the City & Guilds, took another 2yrs and got the technician paper as well, don't know if it ever helped though.
Will do my best to chip in with my opinion as I can and sometimes I have not been mistaken or am I mistaken?
cheers Ric

good! good to see yet another MG'er with a sense of humor... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Only thing that "helps" is your skill and aptitude! The rest is stuff to wipe yer... well, you know.

Again: welcome in from th' "cold." Glad ya decided to jump. Wrenchin' for a living is a tough thing to maintain in the scheme of things. I'd much rather be where we are now than having to START from here. Not that we couldn't, it would just make more sense to pick a different "career path" now. Not that ~I~ would... mehheh.

Welcome aboard.
We're finally gettin a bit of the white fluffy stuff here too.
Glad to see you jumpin right in.

"white fluffy stuff"....

Cat fur? Dust bunnies??

POLLEN! Yeah, that's it. Pollen.

....or dryer lint....

I like to think it's an acute dandruff condition...
