Hello all! By way of introduction my name is Walt Wendolowski and am posted as "NWbritfan". My wonderful wife - Zoe - and I live in Salem Oregon and I operate a city planning consulting business.

No British car in the family - yet. However, when in England last fall we had the GREAT pleasure of renting a Sunbeam Alpine to tour the Lakes District for a day. That brought back wonderful memories of my first car - a Triumph TR-4 - as well as an AH Sprite we owned. So we are looking now for something to restore - more of a rolling restoration project. Our goal is to create a weekly (or daily) driver, which may mean not an original vehicle but one with improved parts (e.g., tires, suspension,electricals) that will get us to the coast and back.

Finally, I must apologize for posting an earlier "marketing" request in the vendor section. I thought I understood the limitations and just wanted to keep the commercial stuff separate from the community discussion. But thanks for moving my request and not deleting it!

Looking forward to chatting with you all in teh fure!

Walt

Hi There Walt & Zoe:

Boy, Thats quite an Un-Usual Name, "Zoe": What Nationality is She?

Good Luck in your Find for a Project (What kind of Car are you in fact searching for & What does your Budget say)?

Welcome Folks from the Pocono Mtns of PA;

Regards, Russ

Actually Zoe is Greek, although neither of us are Greek (Polish actually).

Car? Budget? I do some racing in the International Conference of Sports Car Clubs (Mazda RX7) so the budget is more cents than dollars! Me: I'd love a Sunbeam Alpine, not so rare that you can't find parts, yet distinctive enough. Her: Morgan! - but we know thats not in the budget.

Walt

I'm not too sure whether I am advertising but there is a firm called "Lakes and Dales" out of Penrith, England that rents classic Bristish cars (they have an ad in Classic and Sports Car). You can rent a Frog-Eye, 3000, Morgan or the Sunbeam (and one other I do not recall). And they have a B&B too! They are GREAT folks and we had a wonderful time!!! Highly recommended! (Also have a pint at the Fox Inn if you go.)
