Been poking around occasionally but was motivated to log on by a message to post on the 'New Member'forum.

I have a neighbor that built a very large garage, including an electronic/hydraulic lift to store his 5 Jaguars. Got me interested in Jaguars.

While I have restored a couple of cars; a 1968 Volvo 164 and later a 1968 Pontiac LaMans convertible at this point in my life I do not choose a full restoration project.

Bought a Jaguar 2000 XK8 convertible with lots of mechancial problems but good paint and interior. The car had about $10k of dealer repairs needed which meant that I bought it real cheap. Resolved all the problems with about $1k of new/used parts and a lot of TLC. Truly enjoyed learning about the car. The day after I finished all the mechanical repairs and machine polished and waxed the black beauty, a 19 year old Jeep ran a red light and killed her at an intersection.

After physical and mental therapy over loss of my dear toy, and a reasonable settlement with the insurance company bought a 2002 XK8 that was as new. All I get to do is dust it and drive. I plan on removing the wheels tomorrow and clean and wax the inside of the wheels.

Anyone want to do a tour of the Georgia mountains?

Welcome aboard and thanks for the offer. Georgia is a little far for me to go for a drive though. :eeek: I had a friend that had the same thing happen to him. Just finished rebuilding, and it was totaled. I keep telling people when I'm done with my car, I'm hitting it once with a ball peen hammer. Just to get it over with.

Hello Test Point,

"Welcome" to the wacky world of "LBCs" (Little British Cars).

Sorry to hear about your "Fatal" disastor but sounds like you came out "Smelling like a Rose"!!

Best Wishes with the XK8 & Watch out for those Nut Cases on the road.

Regards,

Russ (Hopefully soon to be a "Greenville, SC" resident; If someone ever decides to buy my house here in NE PA)????????????????????????????????

Good morning, and welcome to the Forum! The same thing happened to me a couple of years ago. After 2 years in the shop, my Healey was hit by a lady running a red light less than 24 hours after we put it back on the road. Thankfully it was repairable!

Welcome - I was just in Elijay a few weeks ago...went up to buy a little MG Midget....& I took the scenic ride through the mountains of Georgia at the right time - colors were wonderful!
