New gas tank-question

Thanks Tony for the great effort in obtaining a new
fuel tank for The Crypt Car.

I have a question. The new tank has two threaded holes
on top at 1/2" by 20 threads. My old tank has no holes
there.

What belongs in those two holes??

thanks,

dale

That a good looking tank! Those extra hole are probably for emission control equipment which you don't have. just plug em up and you are ready to go.

They are part of the PI system which count your blessings you do not have. Plug them up.

Thanks!!

I finally got the old tank out and the new tank
installed- whew!! It's 98* today and even hotter in
my garage.

Maybe tomorrow I'll install the new fuel lines
and gas tank cap.

I'm done in for today.

regards,

dale

"It's beautiful.................."

One of the last lines spoken by the bad guys in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

It could be Crypty saying farewell in Raiders of the Lost Fuel System.

They're not extra holes. When supplier realized that this tank was for crypty, they supplied extra holes for the extra fuel pumps and filters you will probably add.

Sorry. The devil made me do it.

Hey Bob, do you have a part number for that shutoff? I think that's a cool idea!

Bob- Just had time finally to look over your website. I will be using it for a bible for the finishing touches on mine.
The reason I went there is to see if you have more info on the shut off shown above.
While I was there I read your Fatmat section. A lot has been written about the downfalls of gluing it to the floor. What is your reasoning?

I don`t care who ya are ........ now that was FUNNY! {Larry the cable guy}

The NAPA part numbers are here https://tr6.danielsonfamily.org/TBI_14.htm There's the one I used along with a less expensive one. I also had a bung soldered into the tank outlet so that the shut off could screw directly into the tank.

As to the FatMat and the discussion around it possibly trapping moisture and causing rust.....I guess time will tell. I've never had a problem with floor wetness. All the grommets are in place and everything is sealed up for the rare time I get caught in the rain.

Don.....OBD 1. If you do the full conversion of the distributor to electronic, the ECM will control the timing. Lots of good stuff here https://www.pattonmachine.com/

Rather then hi-jack this thread, feel free to email me directly from my web site and I can answer all of your questions.

Dale.....give serious consideration to adding a fuel shut off valve when you install the new tank. It's cheap to do and makes it a lot easier to work with the fuel lines or to change fuel filters.

<span style="color: #000099">Thanks Bobby !!

I installed a shut off valve the first time I rebuilt my fuel delivery
and pulled out my tank for cleaning.

Almost all the experts told me it was a very bad idea. During a later
rebuild of the fuel delivery system, I removed the shut off valve.

So who knows??
