in another post I talked about an electrical issue where the right red light on the dash on my 71 TR6 stopped coming on when I turned the key on. And the last time I was driving the Ignition light came on while driving and also those cheap A@@ plastic bulb holders the metal rings came out of the gauge and while fiddling with the IG bulb light I heard a popping sound under the dash, didnt think too much about it at the time but I went out today and was going to try to start figuring it out, I hooked up the neg battery cable, turned on the ign switch and smoke pours out from under the dash, un hooked the battery, pulled the tach out and the wires are fried!!!

I did talk to TRF about the issue last week and they are suppose to get back to me, but something in the harness apparently shorted out and now I got an electrical night mare, either I have to un wrap the harness and replace the fried wires or rewire the front again

I got no hair left to pull out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OUCH.....sorry to hear about this turn of events.

Hondo, do you know if TRF manufactures their own harness, or are they a vendor for someone else?

Dave at TRF said they are manufactured in the UK,

Not sure if the Alternator has a problem that caused the issue. it started out as the brake line failure warning lamp would not illuminate when the ign was turned on, then the alt lamp in the gauge would not go off even thought the alternator was putting out 13.5 Volts So somehow I must have got the small brown wire and the brown yellow wire switched on the alternator and I fried the Brown yellow all the way from the alt to the alt lamp. So I have to cut the tape in the harness from the alternator to the ign light and replace the wire, but I also need to replace the bulb holder for the ign lamp as its plastic and and cheap!!. hopefully no other wires are affected. Probably not as sever as I orignially thought but still a PITA

I am also going to take the alternator off and have it checked.

well got my brown yellow wire from British wire and I found on old bulb holder I can use for the ignition lamp, I got the BY wire soldered to the out side and have a short white wire I will have to use a crimp joint to install
