Glad to be here with like minded British car enthusiasts. My relevant Brits include a 1955 XK140SE OTS, a 1960 Big Healey BT7, and a 1965 Sunbeam Tiger.

Yes, I went to a British car days event seven years ago looking for a TR6 and fell in love with a Tiger. Asked the owner if it was for sale and we made a deal. The Tiger is a sawed off shotgun. I love it but it’s more muscle car than British sports car. Two years ago I got the itch for a Brit that wasn’t modified by Carroll Shelby and found the XK140 OTS, surprisingly at Mecum in Dallas. Love it as well but with that body it’s almost too exotic to drive daily so … BaT reminded me of my early love of the Big Healey so I started spending a lot of time waiting for the perfect driver and got lucky when one showed up that was right here in Austin. Got to check it out and drive it during the week long auction and picked it up on my very last bid. Fate, I guess.

Great stories! thanks for sharing. And just to let you know what kind of a friendly and caring bunch we are here if you fine the Tiger too much brute force or the XK140 too exotic, I am more than happy to keep them in my garage. No, no, don't thank me, it's just the kind of giving person I am. :ROFLMAO:  :driving:

What a generous offer. My wife would probably take you up on it. Well for sure the Tiger, it’s not her favorite.

We can swap then as my wife hates the Vauxhall. 🤣

Is there a way to search members by location? I’m wondering if I can find members that live in Texas or other areas I may be traveling to?
I don't think so - we tried a few years ago but it didn't garner much interest. I would suggest you post in the pub and see who responds.

Another forum i belong to has a members map, where you can stick a pin where you are located in the world.
It is up to the individual to share his/her location.

ATX, I'm in Temple.

There are a bunch of area British car events I will be missing in April & May, including Texas All British & European Car Days (TXABCDE) in the Dallas area May 7, the Vintage Triumph Register regionals in Sugar Land April 19-22, the Bentley Driver's Club tour of the Ozarks April 11-16... (the only reason I'm not screaming is because I'll be in England!) And of course you have several general car gatherings each month at COTA, Georgetown, Round Rock, and Cedar Park.

I'm hoping to make it to Texas All British Car Days (TXABCD) in Round Rock this fall. Was that the British event where you found the Tiger? It was a great event when I attended a couple of years ago, lots to do over the course of the weekend.

Yes, that was the event in Round Rock where I met the Tiger. Thanks for the details on the upcoming local events. When will you back in the states?
