Went to an auto parts store yesterday, and while there a TR3 pulled in. Talked to him and he had just purchased the car last year. His daughter moved to Florida several yrs ago and when he went to visit he saw this car in a neighbors garage. An 80 yr old had bought it new($2,600). He told him if he ever wanted to sell, he would love to have an old triumph. His daughter called last yr and said the neighbor was ready to sell. After buying the car, he had tranny problems and really didn't ever drive it. 3200 miles (thats right, the odometer is around 4.000 now). So in the last few yrs he'd had the tranny rebuilt, and replaced both master cyl. and went through the brakes and clutch. The punch line is the purchase price, $1,000. The car is not perfect, it has a little rust on the sills, darn the luck. Needless to say, he wears a grin ear to ear.

Wouldn't we all? Did you give him a BCF card?

Nice, some people are lucky that way. It shows that these cars are still out there, we just need to keep our eyes and ears open!

My wife works in a high-end jewellery store, and she gets to hear about a few things from time to time. Mostly they are already spoken for, but a few......

I only paid $800 Cdn for my 1970 Midget. It needed a new starter. The PO had just changed the clutch. All I had to do was re-connect wires and torque a few bolts. Now in my second summer. SO far all in still less than $1800 including repaint (cause I wanted to) 4 new tires, and rebuilt Carbs

Told Dale (the TR3 owner) about BCF and alot of other things. I think it was to much info. I have his tele no and we'll be in touch. He lives about a mile from me. The one thing he has done is find somebody to check his wire wheels, and bought new wide whitewall tires. I have boxes of old British, British Car mags and one of them has a great art. of about 10 pages on the TR2 & 3.
