Looking out the window, I see a pea soup fog. 45 degree temperature and dewpoint to match I guess. It was 55 yesterday and we took a nice walk, Wednesday calling for a snowstorm and freezing temperatures.

Sounds like here, they'er calling for snow tomorrow, we are supposed to get only an inch, West of us 4 inches! We'll see how accurate they are. :wink-new:

As us Connecticut Yankees know so well ...

This coming Thursday's forecast is blizzard. Yep, really.
Guess which day all the new appliances are scheduled for delivery ...

We are going to get hit here in PA on Wednesday into Thursday. 5-8 Inches predicted but that could change.
Hopefully your appliances will arrive before the storm.

Been snowing like crazy here all day non stop. About 6 inches so far and still coming down. Supposed to quit around 7 PM. Well maybe? PJ

Oh, I forgot to add, were sending it to you guys on the East coast! :encouragement:

When I got up (around 5:30 AM) I noticed that the lawn looked
brighter than usual.Went out to get the paper,& noticed it was (barely)
snowing.Didn't do much,as the streets were just wet,but it looked nice.
It was about 60 degrees here today, but it's supposed to snow on Wed.
Maybe I'll finally get to try out my 4WD truck!

Now our snow forecast is 8-12 inches. :grief:

Paul are u going to head to Florida soon? I remember when u we’re trying to get back North earlier this year but the Virus was a concern. I didn’t think we would be concerned with it again going the other way.

Great!! Could apply to many places in the USA! (I grew up in Chicago, with the nearest mountains on one side in Denver, the other side was Pittsburgh... Not much to stop the fronts blazing through!)

Still dealing with mosquitoes down here. But tomorrow we'll see a drop in temps, down into the mid-forties with lots of rain and thunderstorms. Weekend coming is predicted to be sunny and highs into the seventies. You guys down-east can keep all that winter stuff to yourselves if ya don't mind!

Well I think we’re up north east from you. But your right about the weather. We’re scheduled for 18 inches tomorrow afternoon. Paul, as I see it you have two choices. Go out side and prop the power lines up or head to Florida.

First they said 3 to 6". Now it's 8 to 12". I don't know if I can shovel that much at my age especially if its wet and heavy. I hope our plow guy shows up. Even so, the driveway is so heavily crowned that he can only plow the middle. Cost to repave - about $17,000.00. Not gonna happen. Florida? Supposed to be on Jan. 1st this year, not the 15th, but Rhea has an eye doctor appointment on the 4th plus we don't want to travel around the first so we probably won't go down until the 5th or 6th. Not looking forward to the drive for many reasons so the auto train is still a possibility with a private room/bath. Can't get any sleep on those things, especially in that upper bunk without even a ladder to get up there. Oh for a private Lear Jet...BTW, Bart, at age 87, bought a new house, but he sold his Alfa Quadrifoglio and they now own only one car.

Paul - I've only lived in CT for 30 years, but I've noticed that just about every weather forecast for snow runs like this:

two days before storm: 5-6 inches
one day before storm: 6-8 inches
night before the storm: 10-15 inches

That after the storm, the winds become variable, gusts to 35, so shoveling and/or blowing is "interesting".

That has never failed to happen. yeesh!
PS - best wishes to you and family for the holidays.
Tom M.

I've been here a bit longer - like 87 years, and I can tell you the worst snow drops we ever had came after forecasts of "3 to 6 inches". Many of the dire forecasts never materialize, but then we're on the shores of Long Island Sound and a bit milder than just inland places like Danbury, just a few miles away but higher up. I'm more afraid of the high winds and possible ice than snow. I hope that last tree guy was right. With gale force NE winds, a direct hit on our bedroom is possible. I don't think I'll be sleeping well tonight.

Paul, thanks for the info about Bart. I haven’t talked to him in a while. Will send him a note.
I’m familiar with the snows thru much of New England. One Thanksgiving weekend, I think it was in 1971, I was stationed at the sub base in New London. I was determined to get home on the day before the holiday but a major storm was heading up the coast. That morning it was raining at the base and I jumped into my trusty steed, my ā€˜65 Mustang, and head towards Hartford an I-84 to run south to Pa. At Hartford I hit the snow. 84 got shut down, it wasn’t completed yet anyway, started running rt 6. At the Pa line 209 was open but when I got to I-80 it was closed. I ended up sleeping in a crossroad diner at Blakesly. Finally got home on Thanksgiving day, 26 hours after leaving New London. Exciting times for a young fella, not so much now.

Woke up at 7:15 to find my driveway plowed and walk shoveled but some new snow filled in. It's cold - 24 degrees, cloudy and windy but it looks like snow is over. I think inland they got close to two feet. Doc - Florida looking better. Maybe we can get together at some point?

Don't like the weather in Chicago - wait 15 minutes......

Quite possible.
