New "Emergency" Hood Release Kit arrived today

I received my new hood release kit from Mark at Macy Garage today and I'm very impressed with what I purchased. Lacking a digital camera, I must rely on their photo to show the installation, but I can explain the contents of the kit.

For the small sum of $12.00 US dollars, you can get peace of mind and a really neat installation for your TR4/TR6.

The kit consists of all parts needed including; the lever, bushing, washer, bolt, nylon lock nut, pull-rod and even a double lipped grommet to fit in the 1/4" hole in the firewall to make for a really nice installation. No rattling metal to metal contact and noise in the cockpit from the engine compartment.

I liked the way the part was laser cut and the fit against the hood release. Unlike other kits, the travel back against the release lever stops before the kit lever can go past it, thereby eliminating the need for a "stop" pin or screw. When the release lever springs back from spring pressure against it, the kit lever moves back also.

I've drilled my new release lever frame and will be installing over the weekend after I drill the firewall.

All in all, a quality product and well worth the effort to save trying to pry open a hood when the cable breaks.

Hi Paul:

I would like to put one of these on my car. Do you have any contact info for Mark or his business?

Thanks for your help.

Matt
