I decided awhile back that as much fun as my Caddy is, that I really needed a sports car again to truly enjoy top down motoring. With Triumph prices going through the roof nowadays I decided on a Miata and this past weekend I found one. It is a 96, has 138,000 miles, and is seriously clean. It does have a few rock chips on the front, has a couple of dents on the driver's side, but overall is in outstanding shape and drives excellently. Everything on this old car works from the headlights to the cigarette lighter, the drive train and body are both solid, the interior is in great shape. I am really happy with it. I will be replacing the window regulators as they are both sluggish and I bought a bra to cover the front bumper's imperfections. This is my first Miata and I wonder why I never bought one before, it reminds me a lot of my Spitfires but has a fifth gear.

Great looking car - and a happy owner to boot. (no pun intended ...)

So how do you deal with the lack of high-tech digital devices, electronics, self-parking, voice commands, etc.? :jester:

Thanks guys. It's hard to imagine that this car is older than my 79 Spitfire was when I bought it twenty years ago.

Tom, I deal with the lack of modern "amenities" very joyfully.

The Miata is the car the Brits should have built but didn't.
I drove a friend's many years ago. Nice ride. I also drove another friend's BMW Z3. I liked the Miata better. Good luck with it.

I see it has Texas plates.Did the hat come with it?
So,you bought one of the three that isn't Red?
I have a '97.

Yeah I ventured into Dallas (a place I abhor) in order to get it. The hat is one I've had for years and I don't think anyone in Dallas wears one anymore as they aren't trendy enough. Yours is pretty sharp looking, and yes the color is one of the things that attracted me to this particular one, it isn't red, black, or white.

I knew a lady years ago who had a Z3 and I have to agree that the Miata is better in my opinion.

Meoters are good.

Nice buy Walter! Good luck with it.:encouragement: A Miata is on my wish list if I decide to get something more modern. I like them, always have. Again :encouragement:. PJ

Thanks guys.

Paul, next time I am up your way I will try and stop in and show it off.

So far so good. It seems to be a very solid little car and as a bonus it drives very much like my old Triumphs.

Congratulations on your new car! It already looks good, but do you know what would make it look better? These wheel and tire packages feature some of the most stylish rims and tires on the market today, all offered at a very affordable price. You might want to check them out.

Hmmm, you are aware that this is an old thread right?

Has this car been upgraded recently? I am sure a black wheel will add some style to this car as it will complement its color. I suggest you check 4wheelonline if you need a set.

Hey guys, thanks. Currently the car is down. Last July I managed to shatter my left heel and ankle like they were a Christmas tree ornament. Guess what I'd just put up on Jack stands because the throwout bearing started squealing? That's right the Miata and it's sat there ever since. I'm now walking again (finally) and will get to the car but probably not for a couple more weeks at least.

I'm wearing the hat today, it's my go to daily hat for cooler weather.

Walter, good luck with the Miata, I've always liked them and if I wanted another roadster,I also would be looking for one. In one of those, you can blow off most of the bumper riders behind you! LOL. PJ

You made a rational decision. I think that this car will make you happy. I know about this model that it's not so expensive at maintenance.

I thought this was rational. Picked up two weeks ago. 1 of 250 made world wide.
