New Bushing?

Has anyone installed and used the "updated" replacement for the 'Silent Bloc' steering bushing? I saw it in the Roadster Factory weekend catalog. It says it uses a 'Derlin Bush'. I recently had to replace the standard Silent Blocs and I hope I didn't miss something.

Thanks

That is a very good question. I'd talk to Dave at TRF and ask him.

I used similar Silentbloc replacements (brass instead of Delrin) for quite a few years and loved them. Only downsides IMO were cost and another place to lubricate. Joe's Delrin version has solved both of those problems.

Unfortunately I didn't change things one at a time, so I don't know which change helped the most. But combined with overhaul and careful adjustment of the steering box plus a general overhaul of the front suspension (including Nylatron bushings in the A-arms), my TR3A steered as easily and sweetly as one could ask for, short of power steering. Change lanes with two fingers; parallel park with one hand; that kind of easy.

Joe's Delrin version will definitely be going into the project TR3.

I have installed them too. Still too early for a road report, but they LOOK much more positive and easy to move than the stock rubber ones. Like Randall, I have changed many things at once, so it will be difficult to assign credit for improvement to the various components.

Thanks for the info guys. I saw that the price was about double for the new type bushing. But if they last longer and do a better job the initial expense will be worth it.
