In anticipation of the new tri-crab setup, I was talking to Jeff at Advanced Distributors about tweaking the adjustments and distributor curves. Jeff has a new curve setup that seems to be working very well with stock engines and he feels that it would make the tri-carb quite a bit quicker off idle, so I thought I'd give it a shot with my current distributor.

Then he said that he could install an adjustable thumb wheel (ala older TR's and MGB's)that would give me 10 degrees of advance or retard to play with without having to get out a wrench. Excuse my ignorance about ignition systems, but could there be an electronic conversion that would allow dashboard control of timing? I would think with all the engine management stuff they would have that.

Just like the Model T Ford's with their spark advance control in the center of the steering wheel! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

It could be made to replace the dash light dimmer switch so it would actually have a usable function.

I like the idea of putting a starter button where the rheostat is. And then move the ignition switch, I've always hating the location.
 
If you really feel adventurous, you CAN add a timing control to the dash. The MSD 6 series igniton control boxes can function with a Pertronix kit or points in the distributor, and you can get an add-on dash mount timing control to accompany it. Its pretty common stuff and can be purchased from Jegs or Summit online for about $400.
