You ever drive the C5 or C6 (current generation?) Completely different animal than the older Vetts.

...and you can get 'em with 500 ponies under the hood.

A guy that works for me started talking about a new car. He currently drives a Honda S2000 and I'll tell ya that car is a ton of fun. We'll he wanted a Porsche. I said how bout a vette he checked them out and a new 500 pony one was way outta his price rainge. A three year only with less was still pricey. He opted for a 2003 Carrera with 28k for $50k - $13k he got for the S2000. Honestly I would have kept the Honda. I sat in the Porsche the day he got it (last week). Fired it up and the idle sounded off. Gave it a good joust to see how nice the throtle response was. Kind boggy but I did not want to say anything. A day later engine light comes on and he take it in. Computer say he had 1 mis-fire in cyl #3. Re-set comp and away he goes. Gets back to work and light comes on. It's not in the shop for all new lifters. About $2k in work (all covered) but the S2000 was a perfect car. He shoulda kept it.

I dunno. I'd give a lot for a good solid axle Corvette. Ive had 3 over the years with the best having the Rochester FI, "2.20 first" (gear) aluminum case 4 speed, aluminum radiator, short steering arm, heavy-duty shocks, sintered iron brakes, etc etc. It wasn't the most competent car ever built, but it was a heck of a lot of fun and I'd rank it up near the top of the cars I've owned.

The newer Vettes are far more advanced and really good sports/GT cars but I don't like cars that are way faster than I am.

I'd rather have one pony.

Or a 1966 Mustang Pony...

Its only as fast as you want it to be, but it's nice to have the power to get out of harms way if necessary - and it has been a couple of times. But the best part of the C5 is that I average 32MPG on the hiway (no, I'm not kidding), and about 25-27 in town, which is better than my wife's Miata she used to have.

John, I have been talking about you tonight, I sent a guy a link to your website. We were chatting about a car I am listing for a friend on eBay, and talking about the great (and some of the not-so-great)racers of those days. I thought that he would get a kick out of your site. I even went back and re-visted it myself. LOVE that BMW 507! Talk about gorgeous?

I know of a guy who has a 507 NOS factory exhust system.
Know of anyone who's interested?

I've always liked Neil Young. Best album was After the Gold Rush! I even stuck by him during his 'grunge rock' times. I'm glad to see he's back to his old softer self. There was an HBO special on recently from Nashville.
