Saw him last night in Nashville. Son Paul works for Pepsi and the company has a box suite at Bridgestone Arena. For an early Mothers' Day present, he and his wife treated Janet and me to supper and the concert (complete surprise for her). At 76, he sounds very much like he did 50 years ago. Concert was about two hours long, with no breaks. If you have the chance and like his music (how can you NOT??), I recommend it highly!

Nice! Though I still can't quite get my head around all these 50th anniversary tours - Stones a couple years ago. Wouldn't be so bad except so much of the entire genre (Not Neil Diamond I know) but so much of the genre was based on "I hope I die before I get old." and don't trust anyone over 30.

As we say a lot in our house - Never say never because never is a long long time (and God has a sense of humour!)

I recently bought "Hot August Nights" re-mastered in High Def. Amazing sound! I'm jealous!

I saw him perform in the late 60's in Greenwich Village. Tickets were $5!!

Moody Blues are doing the 50th anniversary for Night in White Satin this year too.
In fact the closet venue around here is in your state Mick.
Thinking about going

Moody's are my all-time favorite group. Saw them in an outdoor concert a while back. May have to check into it; thanks for the heads-up.

They'll be at the Ryman in July. Just checked ticket prices - $136-626 EACH!

Saw Marc Knopfler last year
Paid the same

Though I think Red Rocks would be the best venue

They're my favorite too...Can't get over that they've been snubbed by the Rock&Roll Hall of Fame. The quality and volume of their work amazes me.

Well, that didn't take long. Someone's already posted a snippet from last night's concert on YouTube. He closed with this:

It's always funny when they interview Neil Diamond on TV. He sounds a lot like my father, a fellow Brooklyn-ite. When Neil Diamond speaks, my daughter Jessica always seems to look at the TV quite quizzically like "You sound like my grandpa, but where did all the hair come from?"

If I am not wrenching on a car or puttering around the house I often spend Saturday mornings re-discovering music on youtube. Spent a very good Saturday morning calling up old Neil Diamond tunes. One of my older siblings had a 45 of "Cherry Cherry" I was probably about five or six when the song was a hit (makes sense, 50th tour, I am 55 now). Loved it then, still love it now.

True artist who can make a song sound as good or better live than the studio version.
