negative ground

I am currnetly doing a complete restoration of a 61 BT7 and want to go with a small single wire alternator, where can I find any information concerning changing the car over to negative ground. Thanks Skip
 
Hello Skip and Lynne,
Points you will need to look out for:-
Radio, if you have one, will need changing for a negative ground one, or else the messy route of insulating it properly from the car and swopping the supply\ground feeds, not recommended as the case will be live to the rest of the car body.
Some S.U. fuel pumps have a surge repressing diode which are polarity conscious.
Change over the coil low voltage leads, to keep the polarity correct. Older coils were marked sw and cb, with the cb going to the distributor. This corresponds respectively with the - and + of later coils. The ground polarity should always go to the distributor.
Last but certainly not least, change the battery polarity.

Thanks Alec the car is stripped to the chassis so all the things you mentioned will be done as the car is put back togther. The radio and the alternator are the main reasons why I wanted to go with a negative ground in the first place. Thanks again Skip
