Hello,

Is the needle position in my HD8 carb correct in the picture below ? I hesitate due that I find this needle position in my two carbs before dismantling and the figure we could find in "the SU guide" isn't so clear ...

Thank you for your help ...

Well, how's your car running? If it's good, then I'd say leave it alone. If you can't get it rich enough, then yes, putting the needle up higher__to the groove__will help.

Here's the way I installed the needles on some HD8s I rebuilt a while back:

This "shows" the groove

And this is the groove flush with the face of the damper piston

A TON of HD8 carb overhaul pictures starting here: https://www.spcarsplus.com/gallery3/index.php/reMKIII?page=4

The needles should be inserted to the bottom of the groove, like in Randy's photo. Up to you if you want to change them if the car's running OK, but you will need to re-tune mixture if you do. Yes, even that little bit makes a difference--you'll be running richer, as if you'd lowered the jets--as I found out when I did it to my carbs.

Thanks for your information, I finally change the position and insert the needle to the bottom of the groove.

In any case my car was a non driving car, I'm restoring it from scratch as the carbs which is now completely overhauled ... As you could see in the pictures below, i found some surprise in one of my carb ...
Hope I will go ahead enough my restoration process to make the engine starting before the end of this month
