Diesela's speedometer started making some skreeling noises and a bit of needle bouncing, so the instrument pod needed to come out.
There is just about enough slop-tolerance in the cable and a hard oil pressure line to either see the things that need disconnecting or touch them... can't do both. Resorted to The Braille Method of disassembly.
Pod out, speedo head removed, "spot" lubricated all pivot points and shafts with RemOil. Light enough to do the job and not viscous enough to impede the tiny spinny things. Managed to drizzle some 20~50 down inside the cable, too.
While it was apart I replaced the instrument lamps, One died recently-- naturally it was the one over the speedo, so seeing how fast you were going after dark was a minor challenge. Mitsy was NOT impressed with my suggestion she clamp down on a small flashlight with her teeth...
Reinstalling that frizzit speedo cable took longer and caused more sparkling words than the entire rest of the job! Figger'd all this effort would be in vain but pleasantly surprised in the end. No more screech and all functions as it should!
Now if I could just PAY myself, all would be right with the world.
