LBC Gurus....

A fellow asked me this morning if I knew where to buy or if there was an acceptable substitute EGR valve for his 1979 MG Midget.... Just thought I would do my good deed for the day... I am an OLD Boyscout.... :smirk:

It is unavailable from the usual suspects...

Any suggestions????

Thanks

I've a couple on manifolds....did the early Datsun 240Z use the same setup?

Scott,

The only part number that I have is from the Moss catalog...

379-365...

Thanks....

if that's the one that goes on the manifold, I have one he can have for free - no idea if it works, no idea how to know if it works.

JP

JP,

Thanks for the offer. I will check with him to make sure if that is the one he needs and advise....

Ok, yell if you need one.

Might be from a TR6, might be a Spit/Midget 1500. Doubt there is much of a difference given the adjustment screw on the crown. I know it is functional. Visually, it is identical to the one on my smogged Spit 1500. I bought it as a spare and then decided to go the dual SU route instead.

Already removed from the manifold. Price is the cost of shipping.

Insert your fingers in the "cage" and wiggle the rubber diaphragm up and down. If it hisses and pumps air from the nipple, it's good. If the rubber diaphragm is ripped/torn, it's a paperweight.

( erm, I was going to say... suck on the nipple and see if the diaphragm moves, but the boss might take offense to that :nonono: )

What's the worst that can happen if the diaphragm is torn? Little tiny Midgets all over the place? [/QUOTE]

 :smirk:

We could have gone all day without that one...

JP and Scott,

Thanks for the offers. I spoke with the owner who indicated that it is the mushroom shaped assembly that screws on top of the manifold.

Since Scott has one that is known good, then I will get Scott and Carl (the owner) together to arrange the shipping and paying.

I do not know Midgets... I have an MGA, MGB, and an AH 100-6 so this is new territory for me....

ALZO....

Duncan.. Sooo, that is where Midgets come from.. :smirk:

Scott,

I PM'd you with the contact information foe Carl (the Midget owner)

no problem - let me know if it doesn't work out

JP,

Thanks. I appreciate it...

I will let you know...

I am impressed with you Spridget guys...

Maybe I should add a Spridget to my stable.. :smirk:

Let your friend give you his bad valve with the torn diaphragm and soon you'll have lots of Spridgets around.

excellent idea, I'm sure one or two on the board might even do a straight trade for the AH 100-6 (maybe even me )

Scott,

I spoke to Carl yesterday. Your email had ended up in the 'junk' file....

He should have emailed you by now... Please let me know...
