Poor attempt to stick the globe into this, it's a photo of a photo. But this is just a first go at it.

Seems like a terrifying episode of Star Trek or something.

Why don't you just take your own photo of the earth? Then you can match the lighting of the cat.

Yeah. I'll just run right out there and snap a couple shots.

The original shot was with a handball, didn't have a "globe ball" around at the time. Actually hadn't even thought of it then, only after years and his passing did we come up with the idea. I'd likely have a better result if I would superimpose the Earth in a darkroom print. This first try was with GIMP, my first messing with layers. Baby steps.

If you could make the earth a little softer looking, I think it would be nearly perfect.

Bit more fussin' but still not good.

I think it's quite a bit better.

"a bit" being the point. Doing a separate image of an Earth ball and the same lighting as Greg suggested would be a better solution.

Or maybe Rod Serling on an episode of The Twilight Zone. The one where the earths inhabitants think Santa Claws (!) is attacking Secaucus, New Jersey!
