Need stock Bugeye seats

If anyone has changed out their stock Bugeye seats for rally or racing seats, and would like to sell the originals, please PM me. I need both sides complete with frames and runners. Condition of covers and foam not important as I will be doing a complete interior restoration. I'm not concerned with the degree of rust on any of these parts as long as the metal is sound or can be patched. I've looked at Moss Motors and almost had a stroke at their prices! :frown: VB not much better and no one has the upper runner track with the adjusting lever. Thanks for looking.

I can help you out with the runners. I will take a look and let you know. BTW, AH spares has good prices on foam and backing.

+1 for AH Spares for foam, backing and new covers.
I got theirs and am very happy with them.

With the GBP falling in value vs the dollar the prices will be getting a bit better but be prepared to pay a lot for shipping if you go that way.

Good luck finding the frames.

These pans are interesting - Aluminum!
Bugeye Aluminum Seat Pans

Hi Rick - AH Spares indeed has a lot of parts. Unfortunately, no seat backs. I don't know if they are just out of stock, or if they are no longer available. Have to call them. I have seen the aluminum seat pans. That might be the way to go.

The backs are definitely a problem.
If you can find a junk MK2 Sprite or MK1 Midget it might have usable seat backs.
Under all the foam padding and horse hair the metal is the same as in the Bugeye.

We may be able to help, we just put together some Mk II seats (’63-’64) but fit a full ‘pleated’ panel on the front using ½ “ foam so they look like the original bugeye seats. (dark blue with white piping). I think they came out well and look like buyeye seats while being much more comfortable! We have a second set of seats (1963-’64) almost complete with metal seat backs and foam for the back and the seat. They just need new seat pans and frame ( we have only 1 frame). I can tell you how I made the seat covers, or we can work out something if you would like me to make them in colors of your choice.
I made a set of Mk II seat covers out of black with white piping to cover the extra seats I spoke of above. We were thinking about purchasing the rest of the parts we needed and selling them as a complete set. If you are interested in the seat backs and foam, I can sell these extra covers to help fund other car restoration projects, if anyone is interested!

Thanks to all who've answered my post. Your information has been priceless. I've contacted AH Spares about the seat backs, and they say that the seat back (squab) for the BN6-BJ8 big Healeys should be used for the Bugeye. Price is £79.50 which works out to approx. $125. Of course, that doesn't include shipping, but it's a darn sight better than the prices over here - if you can even get them. As a result, I'll be placing an order with AH Spares for the entire interior shortly.

I wonder why they don't link to that on the Sprite catalog - they really should!!

I do not think they are identical, but AHSpares should know if they are close enough.

They do, Rick, but not that obviously. If you click on the part #XSET120 for the Sprite squab, it brings you to a description page where it tells you to use SET130. Clicking on that part # brings you to the description for it.
