Post-War Other Need Spitfire/Herald info

Looks like the nex project will be my MK3 Spitfire (running concurrently with a Stag project, but that is another story).
I need to find out just what I have as far as the Spitfire goes. It really helps when ordering parts! Here are some numbers:
Body tag says FDU44255L
Paint 19 Trim 11
Small seperate tag reads 25542FG
The engine (obtained seperately) says FE90080E
It has an exhaust header, not a cast iron manifold.
I was led to believe the car is a '70, and it does have the RAF emblem on the bonnet. I am looking for an intake and carbs for this car too.
I also have another motor, FC67701HE.

Herald project (in line after the Spit)is as follows:
Engine is GD50239HE
Body is GB29205 LCV
Paint 19 Trim 12
Another tag next to the clutch MC says "Triumph STC 66"

Another Herald that is donating some parts is
GA59255LCV
Engine number GA60187HE

Any and all help decoding all this will be greatly appreciated. And if anyone is interested in parts off the last Herald, let me know (Frankenstang already has claim to anything he wants).
Thanks,
Bruce

Bruce, it looks like the Spit is a '69. The chassis numbers for '69 began at FDU31254, and '70 started at FDU75001. '69 body numbers started with 20001FG. One of mine is a '70, built in late '69, that is FDU75305L.

Engine FE90080E translates to a 1300 (1296) from a '69 or '70. The FE series started with FE8155E in '69, and the '71's began with FK1.

The second engine, FC67701HE is an 1150, (1147) probably from a '65, as the FC coded 1150's were built from '64 -'67, beginning with FC50001E in '64.

19 is the paint code for White, and the 11 trim code is for
a black interior.
Can't help you on the Herald stuff, but hope I helped on the Spit.

Jeff covered most of the Spit details well. A couple things:[ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ]By that commission number, this definitely should be a 1969 "Federal" model, despite what sounds like 1970 front sheetmetal (with the RAF Roundel emblem). I had a '69, FDU44306L, many years ago; pretty close in numbers to this. That engine number of yours might well be a 1970 engine. "FE" is, of course, the "emissions" spec. engine for the North American market. Meanwhile, there are lots of other little details that can ID this car as a '69 or a '70, if you're interested.

[/ QUOTE ]"Stock" SU HS2 carbs and manifold? I might have a rebuildable set if you're interested....

[/ QUOTE ]The "STC" tag confirms that this was originally titled as a 1966 model, although it probably was built in the first half of 1965. Got a body number for this car? Should be xxxxxRAT, on the RH side of the "scuttle." Originally, this car was Triumph (or "New") White with Matador Red vinyl interior.

GA59255LCV

[/ QUOTE ]A 1962-built Herald, probably with the original engine. Note that this engine is the 40hp version of the 1147, while the "GD" engine in the other car is the 48-51 hp version. Primary differences are in a slightly different manifold, with bigger flange on the headpipe on the "GD" engine, which also would have had an early Spitfire 4 camshaft originally.

Why is it a donor? Too rusted, damaged or stripped/vandalized to redo, or ??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif I'd also be interested in a body number, original paint/trim colors, and such for my Database (if ok).
