I will probably post this on several forums. I would like to know if there is someone in Madison WI that would look at a car for me. Please PM me if this is possible and include a phone number.
Thanks,
Bruce

Just curious, what kind of car? I think it is cool that fellow forum members are willing and able to help evaluate a potential purchase, if that what this is. How many have we heard about on the forum that have either themselves been taken advantage of or know someone that has. I would love to evaluate a potential purchase myself, given the chance and know people more knowledgeable than me that I could call on.

We have our own posse! The BCF Posse. I like that.

Just don't tell anybody I went to the Ray Charles School of Braille Auto Appraisal...

I have to keep everyone in suspense a little longer. I have requested contact information, and will see if I actually get anything. This has some of the makings of a scam, but isn't really as "professional" as they usually are. More details to follow. (It's not a Triumph)

Well, Looks like this was just another scam. The car was a 68 mini cooper. Once I requested information on where to look at the car, I have gotten nothing back. It had many of the telltale signs of a scam, but I didn't want to miss a good deal.

I'm curious: since a lot of these scammers want the payment by western union, isn't it possible to set up a sting at the location where the payment will be sent? My parents' car got broken into, and the thief quickly used my mom's credit card to send cash via Western Union. My dad did some detective work and found out who it was sent to and the police then apprehended the lady. She's doing some time now. Why is it that Western Union is so often used and is supposedly easy to get away with? It seems it really shouldn't be.

Bruce and I e-mailed a couple times but the guy pulled the ad before we could get enough info.
Too bad, I was going to check it out and get a couple friends on the police force to look into it if it did not check out. Maybe next time!
If anyone sees another here in Madison let me know as soon as you can. Maybe we can get at least one of these guys.

I wouldnt make the assumption that the would be scammers are actually located in Madison (in this case). In fact, its more likely they're not. Tom, check your PM's. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
