Need some info - Harmonic Damper

Can someone let me know what the diameter of a TR-6 Harmonic Damper is? I don't think it matters, but my car is a 1972 model.

I would measure it myself, but it doesn't seem possible on a fully assembled car.

Thanks in advance!

What was such a bad idea about the timing tape? And who said the idea didn't last?

Shannon,

I used the Mr. Gasket 6.375 for the 6.500 damper. 0.125" divided by 360 degrees = 0.000347" of difference between each mark over the entire 360 degrees, let alone in the first 90 degrees where the marks are cut in the original. When you start at TDC and go forward, you can barely see any difference between the tape and the engraving. You mainly see it, because you're looking for it.

Sorry, but I don't remember the part number. Here's a closer view.

EDIT: These look great under the strobe of the timing light. Everyone who saw it at the Dyno Day loved the ease of setting the engine with this on.

You must strip the damper to bare metal, clean and degrease and paint with clear coat to protect.

Thanks Paul,

I've ordered the tape. Since I'm fooling with the A/F ratio, I really need to verify the correct timing. I'm using a piston stop to make sure everything is lined up right, then the tape to get an exact mark on the damper.

Still working on the o2 sensor setup. I've got the equipment to log 2 o2 sensors plus rpm at the same time. So I'm wiring everything up to be easy to install and remove. We'll see. Take care.

Shannon, as always we want a paper written on everything done and results with photos.

Sounds like someone needs a writer. I think there are a few in CA. who might need some work.

Yeah, with a wife, two kids and a time intensive job, I'm lucky to get anything done around here. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I did finally get a write up about my in-car-cam setup on my website though.

I might get the exhaust posted this week.

Shannon,

I decided to go with the new stock stainless exhaust from the collector back. This frame rebuilding project has ballooned far enough this year.

I will keep your exhaust listed for future reference.

Thats OK, I've been meaning to start developing my website anyway... I just need to get off my lazy butt and do it. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
