Need Some Engine Photos

Here's Tinster begging for help once again.
I think I might be attempting to rebuild
a parts car. I have no frame of reference for
comparison and no other TRs I can go visually
inspect....My engine block is a TR250, the head
and manifolds are 71's, the body and dash are 1969.
There are no pollution devices or heater, blower,
defrost hoses, etc in the car. All gutted by the PO.

My car pretty much had no wiring system and I am
struggling mightily to install a new Dan Masters
entire car wire harness..

With the kind help of the folks here, I am making
some strides to getting my dead TR back to life.
Today I managed to get the spark plug wires shortened
and in decent order--Thank you Alan!! (photo attached)

I would greatly appreciate any photos posted of the
engine compartments of early TR6s for reference.
I could really use any photos of a recently rewired
engine compartment. I seem to have wires everywhere.

thanks as always,
Tinster in Puerto Rico

I don't have any photos. But could I suggest that instead of using cable ties to harness the wires together, use strips of black electrical tape. After you are finished, wrap everything together with the tape and you will have an original looking harness with no cable tie bumps.

I dunno -- sort of thought the 'spaghetti' look was cool, almost Italian even.

Sorry, no '6 photos. It's pretty much a matter of finding out what the routing is and which clips are used, etc... photos should be enough. My only advice... do not shorten any wire until you are all done (hard to make them longer later).

Sounds like TR6s had black tape on the harness? (TR4s were blue). Either way... the TR4 harness is taped with a a plastic tape that has no adhesive... makes it possible to open up the harness or re-wrap later w/o finding a gummy mess under all that tape.

Moss sells the non-adhesive tape in blue for TR4... not sure if something similar is available for the 6.

Here are a couple of my old tub....

Hope that helps.

I can show you what the harness along the left side of the engine looks like with everything out of the way in this shot. It refers back to the wrapping of the wires.

Those little black rubber strips to hold the wires down without being cut by the bend over clamps are available from TRF.

Here's an after view similar to yours showing the wrapped harness to the alternator and the ignition. These are before the body shop painted the engine compartment. I'll see if I have any more with a better view.

Thanks to all!

I have downloaded the engine photos
into a folder for reference.

Tinster
I have included a general wiring harness diagram from my operations manual for your info. Hope this helps.
