Need input on Cam choice!

Hi!

This BBS is great! My '73MGB and I have just registered. Thank you in advance for your input.

OK, to make a long story short I need some input on MGB Cams.

I built an engine that is:

bored 30 over
fully balanced
head DIY ported as per P.Burgess.
Dual valve springs/ standard ratio rockers
stock 1.5"SU's (may upgrade)
Stock header and free flow exhaust (may upgrade)

I deliberated over what cam to buy and had one custom ground to the following specs:

.298" cam lift, 228 degree duration @ .050"
106 degree installed centreline
106 degree LSA

My questions are:

Has anyone used a cam like this?
If so, what will the engine run like?
I will check for coil binding and valve to block/ piston clearance but with this lift should I expect interference despite the stock 'eyebrows' cut into my 18v block?

I don't mind it being lumpy, but when it comes down to it 95% of the cars use is daily 'spirited' driving.

Also, how crucial is it to harden the cam and hardness test the lifters?

I have already checked out www.mgbmga.com and am well aware of Doug Jacksons strong beliefs.

But David Anton of APT recommended the cam and he also REALLY knows his stuff. www.aptfast.com & www.aptfast.com/cam_chart/cam_chart.htm

That is why I am looking for more input!
