"Need Info" on "New" Spridget VIN & Engine No`s:

Re: "Need Info" on "New" Spridget VIN & Engine No`s:

Title issued 7/27/94 to person I purchased from, title list previous title as same state transferred 11/23/93

Has title number --------
Vin # which is motor #
Year --58
color ---green (correct)
make --Aust
model --blank
body --CV
WT-L-BHP 1250

I think I will go ahead and get title in my name as is then fight to get it correct. Don't want a car with open title even if it is not correct

Is the 580 preceded by AN5L/. If so, that's a very early model produced around 14 April 1958.

Well I finally removed the generator so I could see VIN plate and this is the complete number "AN5L/580"

so is this mean it was the 79th one down the assembly line? that would be like during the first run.

The first one was produced on March 31, 1958. Yours was less than three weeks later.

Hi There mightymidget,

Why would you need to remove the Generator to see the VIN plate? Is it mounted on the engine block? Really can`t tell from looking at your pic.

It should be located on the LH side (Drivers Side) clearly visible to see on the inner wheelarch.

Directly under the VIN # on the plate it would have "See Engine" for the Engine No.

Regards,

Russ

Sorry for the confusion I have two Bugeye sprites, one has a older Ford V-8 conversion installed in it, it was the Ford generator mounted over frame plate so I couldn't read VIN. the other Sprite is kinda stock and plan to keep this way
