Need help with 4age conversion

I have a fair amount knowledge with engines, not a whole bunch of Toyota experience but hey they all share a TON in common.

Im preparing to swap a 4age into a Austin Healey Sprite, so heres the issue: need to keep as much stock on the engine as possible, whats my best bet for ignition and fuel control?

Should I just install a Hp/Lv fuel pump and run a megajolt? Or do I need a megasquirt...? This fuel injection stuff is the new part for me

oh, Ive also read about ford EDIS setup will get me the spark as well, any ideas?

Welcome.

Here (below) is a 4A-GE conversion done by a guy I know.
He is using an early 4A-GE motor with the side distributor.
The actual distributor is a very simple unit from a Starlet. Weber carbs, obviously.

This one goes well, but I'll be honest: I'm not a big fan of these type of swaps.
In my view, Spridgets are "momentum" cars.....not "power" cars.
A good 1275 is a better choice (in my view).

Anyway, I don't know much more about it, but there is a little more info in it ~HERE~

Amen Brother, frankly in my view it’s not British any more.!!Isn’t this the British car Form?

It is still a British car... just with some "foreign" parts. I like swaps that retain the character of the car. I was going to do a 4age swap myself, but after playing around with the 1275 I decided to "modernize" it instead. So I'll be doing a turbo fuel injection on my Midget engine.

I do not think the 4age had any sort of variable valve timing, so why not go webers and distributor?

Thank you for the link aero have yet to see that one. Rick-perfect, now I have a weeks worth of reading hopefully explaining everything I need and another 6 months of studying and I should be there! All this info is awesome, I want more! Ive seen a 4age 20v installed in one of these, WITH the FI kept in place, and the stock distributor. For simplicity I may do a similar swap as the toylet, but the fact that I could have 165 stock hp and still get 30mpg vs the rotary and its 16 is soooooo tempting.

All I have to do is figure out how to keep the stock throttle bodies(1/each cylinder, its basically setup already), and run the stock distributor, since its been done I know its possible, just need a little assist in getting there.
