Need help ordering from Moss - ASAP!

I have one last order that has to go into Moss today. I found the chrome door pulls, the chrome window winders, the '66 rearview mirror.

But for the LIFE of me, I cannot find the chrome thingies for a '66 that you open the door with from the INSIDE of the car.

Anyone?

Added to say, the window winders in chrome say '68-70, will they fit the '66? (page 65 of the newest catalog)

I know you aren't gonna like this but: I don't recall ever seeing metal inner door handles in an MGB unless they were the ones JC Whitless sold "back when." I'd love to find a set of those again myself. The plastic ones ALWAYS snap in two. I've been hunting for the metal ones for a while now with no success.

The '68-'70 window cranks may fit, I'm not sure. Someone with a better memory-retention capacity will have to answer that. Sorry.

I *think* I can substitute the window winders with AH ones. The door openers and the door pulls are black plastic, and try as I might, I cannot clean them up. Also, no window wiper arms in any of the boxobits that came with Binabox. So I have to order those as well.

**Actually, I think MGOC has the chrome inside door openerthingies. But, I really don't want to wait 2-3 weeks for something to get here from England either, at this point in time.

could always take one of the plastic ones to a machine shop to have them mill one or two out of a block of aluminum.

And I thought of that too Noonie, something Chuck could easily do if he were STILL working! I wonder if one of the guys at the plant could do it up right?

of course if you had the door handles milled out of aluminum, you'd prolly wanna have the window winders and door pulls done that way too... so you'd have a match set... ya know? After all, polished aluminum never looks quite like chrome... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

MAWs? Might as wells?

What I have now is plastic. I've ordered the mirror, the door pulls and window winders. What I'm still searching for are chrome inside door pulls, the handle/paddle type.

Janel...I contacted Kelvin Dodd of Moss for you. Here is his reply:

It sounds like she is looking for an aftermarket chrome version of the early 62-67 MGB inside door handle.

I’m not aware of anyone making one at the moment. I checked the MGOC catalog, just to be sure.

They used to be available from a number of aftermarket companies, but no one currently offers them.

Honestly I would advise against them as the door handle is in just the right location to do some pretty catastrophic damage to your knees or thighs during and accident.

The plastic original ones are brittle and will break off rather than acting like ice cream scoops.

I may have some used ones buried amidst my stuff, but opted to use the originals on both my race car and street car.

Kelvin.

So there you have it...........

Are the mirrors available now? I thought I saw that they were not. Mine is a '67 and is dry and brittle. I was hoping to replace one day.

Jaynel, call the Roadster Factory, they still carry the upgraded inner door pulls in chrome. 1-800-678-8764. good luck ,Rick

I believe the mirrors are available. I have a later mirror, off the temporary '77 windshield we're using (glass is backordered), but I want the '66 style mirror that clamps to the support in the center.

Thanks for checking Rick! And rampant, I'll call them now.

GLZ118/CP is TRF part #

Is that the mirror with the "gold" colored paint on the back? If so, you may want to order one from mechspec that is chromed.

Hmmm, just looked at mechspec... they do not show the chromed version. Maybe I saw it somewhere else. I'll keep looking because I'd like one as well. Or... I could just have mine chromed or powder coated "like chrome".

Gawd I hope it's not gold-finished on the back!!! YECH! If so, I'll use a later model one!

Part #165-110 has a gold colored paint on the back that I think is supposed to look like brass (maybe?). Anyway, I stripped the paint and shined the metal with steel wool and clear coated it. It looks OK for the time being, but I want something more like chrome. I didn't realize it was gold colored when I ordered it. Oh well.
