I am helping a friend rebuild his 18V883AEL 026604. The rods he has have casting numbers 12H3597 and I noticed that they are not off set big end rods. We got the crank in and plasti gauged and inserted the rods and pistons. The rods hit the cam while we were trying to attach them to the crank. The pistons have pressed in piston pins. I have rebuilt a three main 1800 and a 18GB motor but not an 18V. Are these rods supposed to have off set big ends? I happen to have a set of off set rods for an MGB with casting numbers 12H1020 which use circlips for the piston pins. Will these piston rods work in an 18V motor? What engine do these 12H3597 rods go to? Thanks for your help and have a good day!

John
