Need Community's Help Please--Original BE Horns

Hi all,

I recently bought a pair of what was described as "2nd generation original" BE horns off of ebay. NOT the 1st generation original ones found on the BEs from '58 to '60ish, but the ones that replaced those early styles starting in '60 (or '61)...

I received the horns this past week, and unfortunately, I do not think they are they are the real deal. They are HUGE!! They look like they belong in a mack truck or something. I just don't see how the little car could even accommodate these things. I have attached a link to the pic here:

https://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/...80331847181&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:MOTORS:1123

I asked the seller to verify, but he assured me they were the real deal based on the fact that he has owned a BE in the past, and also from AH manuals that he has.

Can someone please help me here? Were the 2nd gen BE horns on the particularly large side? If so, why on earth were they so big...and were on earth do I mount these guys?

Thanks-

Twin windtone horns with relay was shown as a BMC approved dealer option according to Terry Horler's book.

The originality guide says <span style="font-style: italic">"Twin horns were available as an optional extra. When twin horns were fitted, one horn featured a high note while the other featured a low note. the twin horns were located on either side of the radiator and connected in parallel with a short section of wiring harness."</span>

They were called "windtone" horns, an option, required a relay. It's been a long time since I saw a set of original ones, but those are consistent with what I remember.

Take a look here for a picture of a set of modern replacements. Maybe not exactly like yours, but as close as the modern ones get.
