Greetings,

Just discovered this forum and glad that I did. Lots of good information available and good personalities.

I live in New Jersey by the Delaware River an am driving a 1959 Bugeye with a 1098 Engine. I am in the process of rebuilding a 1275 engine myself, and learning a lot along the way.

The machine shop just told me the 1275 crankshaft in the engine is "junk" so I'm looking for another one that's useable or salvageable by machine shop work. Does anyone have one available for sale/trade/etc, or leads to get one?

Thanks in advance, looking forward to talking on the forum.

Bruce

Hey Bruce! Glad you made it over from the MGBBS site. There are many knowledgeable people here. There are mostly Yanks here, so I visit both places to get two different perspectives.

Welcome Bruce! I am going through the same process right now and I have a lot to learn, too. I have a couple of threads going on the topic that are probably worth a read.

BTW, my dad's name is Bruce!

Welcome Bruce,
The title says camshaft but the body of the message says crankshaft. Which do you need?

I need a Crankshaft for the 1275. That's what you get for typing fast so your Boss doesn't see you goofing off!

Thanks for the hellos...

I think APT sells race prepped crankshafts rather affordably. It seems like the price is @$500.00. That's not a lot more than what I paid to have my crank turned and balanced. And if the work that the my machine shop did on my head is any indication, I will probably be buying one from them soon. *sigh*

Their address is aptfast.com.

Also, Hap (who gets my vote for Spridget forum MVP) can probably help you out. His url is acmespeedshops.com

Bruce:

Welcome.
You can try Pete McCarthy in nearby Sussex County, NJ.
If Pete doesn't have anything, he'll probably give you the number of Storm Crank (in NY). I forget the number of Storm, but I know Pete has it. I'm *sure* Storm will have one.
Pete doesn't use e-mail. Call him during the day at 973-383-8859. If he doesn't pick up, try back later (rather than leaving a message).

Welcome Bruce, I think you will find a good "home" here! there are a couple of knowledgeable, active members from your neighborhood right here. I lived on the Jersey Shore (Redbank, Longbranch area) for twenty years and bought my current 59 Bugeye there about twenty years ago!! Welcome aboard!

I think Bruce said (on another board) that he had found one.

GEEZ! We're always the last to know... wazzup wit dat?!?! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

My Bad - I located a crank from British Racing Green in Delaware. Already shipped to the machine shop. Ebay is always timing - sometime it work sometimes it doesn't.

Thanks for the leads everyone - I'll remember to update my issues.
