Need a couple things... anyone?

I'm working on installing all the gauges and switches and stuff in the dash of the 59 Bugeye. I ordered a new wiper knob but when I went to clean and check the switch I realized it was seized.

So, I need a working wiper switch. I have a new knob so just the switch is fine.

Also I need a speedo retaining strap and 4 speed nuts to hold the straps on the speedo and tach.

Also, the new choke cable I ordered sux! There must be two to choose from. The knob on the one I have isn't even close. Anyone have a functioning choke cable?

PM me if you can help.

TIA,

Rick

Rick, in regard to the choke cable: I had an original cable shaft and knob, whacked the cheezy counterfeit one off, drilled/tapped the original shaft and threaded the new one. Looks/works like the OEM one now.

This is for a Bugeye Doc. Different entirely. And yes the choke cable from Moss is entirely wrong.

I finly got an NOS one from a kind sole.

Might try Peter C, at least he knows what they should be.

Heater switches are another item that are not available, but be very careful and you can restore the old one.

Spedo straps and nuts will need to come from any old Midget or Sprite with the correct size insterment. I think up to about 66?

Speedo and tach brackets cone from the scapmetal and a few minutes of drilling and cutting.

I'd try to free up the wiper switch. Last year mine was seized. I sprayed it with PB blaster and now it works fine after a good cleanup.

Oh, choke cable... I like the locking T-handle version, but it looks totally wrong. However, this is one place I'll take function over form since my car is very picky about how much enrichment it receives on cold mornings.

I have an extra strap (but no speed nuts :frown: ). PM me if you want it! I just rummaged through my "instruments drawer" and it is amazing the shortage of speed nuts there!! I have saved a bunch of stuff except them!!

Very nice choke cable repair! I saved a copy of your photo in my healey file for a resource.

I started soaking the wiper switch. I hope it frees up. I think I can disassemble the thing and clean it if I can get it to move.

I didn't see any speed nuts in the Moss catalog. I guess I can use standard hex nuts.

Thanks for the offer on the strap. After giving it some thought I am just going to make one up.

Thanks all!

If you don't mind non-original speed/thumb-nuts PM me. Last year I bought a few of the common size BA taps so I could handle the unique threads used on instruments and fuel pumps.

Oops... sorry, read the PM and responded before I read your updated post. So... I guess I don't need to head out to the garage then?

Thanks, No, But I'm glad someone had a solution. This isn't going to be the last time someone needs these.
