Our Daughter called today,in tears.
Sounds like the Volvo's transmission has had
it.
It's a 2001 S80,automatic,with 170K + on it.
I think it's time for her to sell it for parts,
& find an affordable,reliable car.
She's in Richmond,Virginia.Any help is greatly
appreciated.

It's slipping really bad - she said it won't go
over 40mph.
I wish there was something to do to the dealer
that sold it to her.

170,000 miles on any automatic transmission is really pushing it, along with the fact the driving habits of the previous owner/s, might have stressed it out even more. Hard to say. Not trying to patronize the dealer, but some automatics give very little warning before going bad. Hope all works out. PJ

Doug, anything else wrong with the car?

Doug, my friends who fix Volvos refer to that car as a $80. Makes them money, but not a good car. What can she afford? I would be happy to try to find her a car up here, and look it over before purchase. Give me a price range, and I will see what I can come up with. I am around the shop this weekend, what is a good time to get a hold of you??

Jesse- If nothing else is wrong with the car. Isn't it more prudent to fix it and have a very safe car for her (read Doug) than put more money into another used car that can have the similar problem?
