Need a Brake Light Switch

My hydraulic brake light switchc went out on the 65 yesterday, I would like to replace it with a mechanical switch that is activated by the brake peddle. I have the dual master cylinder. Picked up a plunger chevy switch bur do not really see an easy way of making it work. Someone in this group has solved this and has a simple answer, please pass along. I do not want a hand operated switch, pedal only.

Please provide source and pictures if you have them.

Thank you in advance,

Mark

If you look a coouple of posts down - we just had a short discussion on these. I would like to see a pic of your hyd. switch set up.. as i would consider fitting this to mine.

I did see the post listed below and have since ordered the spring system shown, I think I can easily make that work by attaching it to the side of the peddle box. The origional hydraulic system is nice as long as it works, from other posts it seem that either silicone fluid or newer fluids seem to have a negative effect on it and the diaphragm disolves????

VB part numbers 7-145 and 8-337, if it goes down you have to
bleed the system to repair, work!!!! I don't want to worry about brake lights anymore. I checked them before leaving for an all day jaunt and found out later in the day I had no brake lights.

Know the feeling, Mark. I added a pedal activated switch to my MGA in parallel with the hydraulic. Pedal box is different though. Replacement hydraulic switch's I don't think are anymore reliable that the mechanical replacements seem to be from recent posts.
On the MGA I just welded a fine thread nut to the spacer tube on the pedal stop bolt and used a MGB switch I had.

Kurt.
