I got a crank from across the pond & a block from a local breaker. I'll be darned if I can find a head anywhere.
Everything else will be new ( rods, pistons, cam ect. ) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Not in the last 6 mo. Also tried APT, Prather, Fab-Tech & Scarboro Fair as well as several others. I have a bunch of Free 1500 engine parts if anyone needs some. ( block, crank, heads, cams ect. )

None of my spair parts are doing me any good. Shipping is more than they are worth I'm afraid. But I can't bring myself to toss em.

Let me look in our local wrecking yard for a head. If I remember they have two. I have one but I have to see if my daughter wants to build a second motor for her Midget.

We have a really great breaker locally. Many INEXPENSIVE parts. MG, Triumph & AH. Unfortunatly, he doesn't have a MGA MKII head. If you need anything I would recommend him

David, I gotta ask 'cause I been "away" so long: Is "Wagner's" still around? They were someplace north of you, in either Butler or Lawrence county I think. They had the whole yard asphalted and all their "donors" on blocks, street signs to designate "MGB," "Spitfire." "TR3," etc. Neatest breakers' yard I've ever come across.

Yes, on route 19 north of Zelenople Pa. They are great for late model import cars. Anything older than 20 years gets crunched /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif. So not a place for Brit stuff anymore.

Did you get my PM Re: Racers you might know? It didn't seem to want to go through.

Why not use an early 1800 head? Unless this is for a concours restoration!

I might be interested in some 1500 parts ... I don't know when I'd get out to pittsburgh until the summertime, though ...

I could use an 1800 head at least temporarily except that I intend to spend a lot of time & money on it porting, ccing, flowing etc.. It probably would bother me more than it should not having the original casting # ( essentially the 1622 & the 1800 are the same )
As far as the spare parts go, they are free to a good home however, the blocks would probably cost as much to ship as buying one locally & nothing I have has been magnifluxed. I do have a nice crank & a couple of good heads + a short block that has not been touched.

I might be able to come out during the vintage grand prix next year if you're willing to hold on to them until then. I could load the parts into the truck ...

Matt, I would venture to guess that he's referring to the MGA type 1500, rather than the Spit stuff. Just an educated supposition on my part, however.
Jeff

Let me look at an old MGA engine I've been holding onto

Yes, sorry... The parts I have are for an MGA 1500. Essentially, left over from the non-original engine that was in the Courier + a bunch of extras that were given to me.

I could use that 1500 head - hang onto it until I see if I've got a 1600 one.

Ok, thanks all /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Heh, no MGA's as of yet. I forgot about the various engine configurations of the MGA including the 1500 ... Should be saving up for my shop rehab anyway (instead of rebuilding engines as spares).

Mine turned out to be a 1500 - now I have what I need (actually, had it all along!)
