I hav one left over part. There were 4 people taking the engine apart and this one has no place to go! Can you identify it?

1978 MGB with 1800 stock engine. It looks like a heat shield to me.

I believe that's part of the cold air induction system/air filter assembly. I think it bolts to the front of the combo intake/exhaust manifold

I can believe it goes to that air intake, it is made out of the same metal. But I still can't figure out where it goes. I could use a picture!

I hereby name it Kevin.

That is ok, I have decided that it is not an important part, so it stays in the box. I did take the car for a test drive yesterday. The car drove well and I was amazed at how well the overdrive worked. Much faster than a Healey Overdrive. Besides rebuilding the motor, we changed the oil in the gearbox and differential. The car should be good for another 100K.
It is too bad it is a 1978 model in California. It still has to be smog tested.

The overdrive is a joy. Our '73 Tourer has it, and I can't imagine driving without it.

First time I flicked that OD switch in my MGB I was sold.
