I know Summit Racing some times will, but isn't there another racer's oriented obline store that can be even more cost effective?

Tom,

What car are you looking for master cylinders for? The TR4A's?

Scott

Hi Scott - hope you had a good weekend.

Yes, one for the TR4A and one for the TR6. I'm going to see if either or both are rebuildable but if not I want to just order away and have them show up like magic...

Tom,

I found the other reference I was thinking of. It was in your thread where you showed rebuilding teh TR4A brake master cylinder:

Art had a link for Pegasus Racing which has clutch master cylinders (small reservoir), but I don't believe they had brake master cylinders (large reservoir).

I recommend sending your master cylinder cores to White Post Restorations in White Post, Virginia. White Post installed stainless sleeves in my clutch master and brake master cylinder over 15 years ago for my TR6. Both are still in good condition and do not leak. I use DOT 5 fluid as well. The brake master has two sleeves and the clutch master has one. I say this because White Post charges per sleeve installed.

Hi Scott - confusing, yes? LOL. The one I rebuild for the 1968 TR4A IRS is fine, or more accurately I think it is fine. Haven't used it yet. I'll know in about two weeks.

The ones in question are the 1974 TR6 clutch MC, I posted a picture on the other thread. The 1966 TR4A solid axle clutch MC was frozen solid, and I am guessing that it is pretty badly scored.

I'm starting to get some time pressure on getting the four - maybe five now - cars up and sorted for the fall event. So if I get a sense either of these MC are going to be a pain I'm going to punt and just replace them.

Make more sense now?

Apple Hydraulics re sleeves and is cheaper than most of the competition.
If you have original cylinders this may be a better way to go long term and cost effective as well.

Good news on the TR6 clutch MC, bore is smooth still so just an old seal problem! Now to check the one off the TR4A...

Hey I wasn't going to ask! I lost count of how many TR4A's you have so figured it must have been for one of them.

Scott

Well the TR4A clutch MC is good inside still too - so Moss has rebuild kits on the way.

And yes Scott - most folks find it hard to keep track so you are in good (normal actually) company!
