Quite the ride!

Wow, mach 1 to 2, 30 seconds. Mach 2 to 3 28 seconds.

Very impressive ride.

The speed of my old lady's fury when I bring home a new car project is about the same...

Pull in the drive way, her anger goes from mach 1 to 2 in 30 seconds. It goes much faster than mach 3 when I tell her what I spent though!!!

I walked this am with an old friend. He was furious that so much attention was paid to what he considered a frivolous endeavor what with Oregon and California fires out of control, water shortages - thinks that should be our first priority, not PR rides into space.

Sorry your friend was upset. There will always be other things going on in the world as people like Branson pursue their dreams. There were lots of bad things happening in the world when we landed on the moon, too.

You can tell your friend that OK forestry service fire fighters are getting sent to Oregon. My son is packing to head out there right now. It's probably better that he goes than Branson, I'm not sure how good of a firefighter Branson is.

There's plenty of money and resources being applied to the fires and the drought, they just don't have the news appeal of private party spaceflight. And both those billionaires spend boatloads of money on many other causes as well. All a matter of emphasis, editors decide what's gonna better "sell soap."

Itโ€™s not like the fires and drought donโ€™t get coverage. Pretty much mentioned every night. But sometimes people like a break from hearing about all the bad stuff.
